Course Title: Responding To Ethanol Incidents

Course Description:

Class Date: September 9, 2017

Class Times: 0800 to 1700

The Office of the State Fire Commissioner-Pennsylvania State Fire Academy is offering this new class utilizing curriculum from the International Association of Fire Chiefs. For first responders, the addition of ethanol to gasoline presents some unique firefighting challenges. Traditional methods of firefighting against hydrocarbon (gasoline) fires have been found to be ineffective against these polar solvent-type (ethanol-blended) fuels. The 8-hour training program, "Responding To Ethanol Incidents", will cover a range of topics, including ethanol, blended fuels, transportation of ethanol blended fuels, storage and dispensing and fire fighting foam principles for ethanol blended fuels.
