Course Title: Rope Rescue with new Technology/Equipment

Course Description:

Class Dates: April 14 and 15, 2018

Class Times: 0800 to 1700

Class Hours: 16

Class Size: 20 students max., 16 min. 

This 2-day course will reinforce those basic skills learned in PSFA Rope Rescue 1 & 2 by incorporating the use of modern day equipment and technologies. All training will be in compliance with NFPA 1006, 1983, and 1670, OSHA, ANSI, and industry best practices. Students will perform on-rope techniques such as rappelling, self-rescue, knot passing, pick-offs, and ascending using the Petzl ID and the ISC D-5 devices. Students will learn how to safely utilize modern rope skills and equipment to improve operational capability. Students will also receive in-depth instruction on utilizing the Arizona Vortex, CMC Multi Purpose Device (MPD), and the AZTEK Kit to construct lowering and hauling systems used in technical rescue situations such as rope rescue, confined space rescue, and structural collapse. Students will work in teams to safely demonstrate and apply the knowledge and skills into simulated scenarios.

Pre-Requisites: Students must be proficient in rescue knots & have completed PSFA Rope Rescue 1 & 2.

PPE Required: Rescue helmet, rope rescue gloves, eye protection, long pants, short or long sleeve shirt (no tank tops), suitable footwear (boots or similar), and outerwear appropriate for the weather.
